Clyde Clack: New Animals on the Blocks

In the 1930s, Dallas artist Clyde Clack designed a series of half-sheet (30-by-22-inch) animal prints, initially as a means of teaching the craft of woodcarving to Depression-era technical school students. The designs have become popular again, and recently, a few of the original blocks—which hadn’t been printed in decades—were returned to Hatch Show Print. This exhibition will feature restrikes of all the blocks in the shop’s collection, along with contemporary adaptations that recast the bold images for a new era.
